If you are working in an office and you realize that you have not been organized all this while, there must be something wrong with you and that you need to change your attitude in order to give a good impression to your boss. However, being an organized worker is not as easy as you think it is, but don’t worry because you can actually become one if you put some effort into achieving your goal.
First of all, you must keep in mind that having a messy desk is not a sign of an organized worker, thus you must make sure that you clear up your desk regularly. Your desk and drawers should only contain necessary things, so everything else like used paper, envelopes and others should end up in your waste paper basket. That way whenever your boss comes around, you are relaxed because your desk is already tidy and neat.
If you have a list of jobs to be completed in a day, it is good if you jot them down on your to-do worksheet according to their priority. Urgent tasks should be listed on top of the list, and lesser important tasks are to be listed at the bottom. If an urgent matter needs to be addressed immediately and you can’t possibly get it done within the given time frame, you should learn to delegate tasks to your colleagues. Make sure that the task is within your colleagues’ job scope, or else they may not be able to help you since they may lack the skill and knowledge.
When you have learned how to be an organized worker in the work place, you can now learn to be an organized person at home. You can start by tidying up your bedroom by making your bed and folding up your down feather comforter every morning. Every weekend, make sure the yard work is done and everything on the exterior of your home is fit and proper. The lawn should be moved and edged. Debris and rubbish should be collected and run through your chipper shredder, yielding a well-kept appearance and useful mulch material for your flower beds and compost heap.
